FAQ:
How thick can waterjets cut?
Waterjets can cut up to 13" thick
What is the benefit of outsourcing when I can buy a waterjet?
(1)Waterjets can be very expensive for an industrial model, most of our customers require a table size of 6' x 12'. (2) Most waterjet companies specialize in waterjet only because certain materials are very complicated to work with. It is not as cut and dry as "set-up and go". (3)Besides the experienced staff working within the jets conditional parameters, maintenance for these machines is very costly and only well trained employees' can repair these continuous up-keep machines. Remember: Waterjets are capable of pressures from 40,000-60,000psi, if not repaired correctly, it could cause injury or death!
What are the benefits of waterjet as opposed to profile milling?
Simple, with milling the object is generally to profile a part from a plate or billet material. The problem is that when the cutter has material on both sides of it and it can not climb cut or mill cut, the tool life generally goes down. This can pose an even bigger problem when the material outside of the profile part is weak enough to break free. I have personally seen cutter inserts break and large chunks of steel fly around the inside of a mill.
Can waterjets leave stock for a secondary operation?
Absolutely
What is the advantage over lasers, Plasmas, and torches?
That question has several answers. (1) With waterjets there is no "HAZ" (Heat Affected Zone) which gives machinist a lot less problems with secondary operations. As well you can save on Normalizing cost. (2) With some materials the edge quality is better.(3) Waterjets can cut plastic, foam, glass, G10 (Phenolic), marble/granite, and several other heat sensitive or non-conductive materials.(4) We can cut metallurgical samples.(5) And some materials just cut faster with waterjets.
Can you cut arts and crafts?
Both owners are huge fans of arts and crafts. If you have an idea, we can make it happen.
What if I wanted a custom design or an existing logo for my garage, car, Motorcycle, etc.
Not a problem, several individuals have walked in with a picture or a tracing of a part.
